That's why we're available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, ready to help you make the right decisions with the minimum of fuss and delay. Our experts are competent in assessing incidents, advising on strategy and mobilising the people and equipment capable of dealing with events swiftly and professionally.

Before an emergency arises, let GSC provide advice on preparing and planning for unforeseen events through consultation and training. This can further reduce the delays that arise prior to wreck recovery.

Casualty Management, Assessment and Evaluation

Our Salvage Experts visit casualties to evaluate the situation, wherever it has occurred. They are fully trained to obtain all relevant information from both above and below the surface, and to compile this data into a comprehence technical assessment for informing recovery strategies. Meanwhile crisis room and or shore assistance is available to optimise the management of the support to the casualty.

Distressed Cargo Management

Our Cargo Experts are trained to deal with distressed cargoes, assisting Cargo Owners, Underwriters and P&I Clubs by managing the logistics, surveys, salvage buys and or disposal of abandoned cargoes. We maintain a database of global cargo recovery companies, the capabilities, track record and other relevant information to assist in selecting potential service providers.

General Average Support

Providing General Average Surveyors, with clear understanding of the objectives of general average.

Tender Evaluation and Contract Negotiations

GSC assists owners and mangers in the review and evaluation of both technical and commercial tenders for wreck removal, providing in-depth advice on the options offered by each contractor and negotiating the terms of contracts so that you can make a timely, informed decision based on all the facts.

International Salvage Company Database and ITT Support

GSC's Salvage Experts provide our clients with a detailed report for the preparation of an ITT (Invitation to Tender). This includes all the relevant information required by the salvage company to undertake the work required. We maintain a database of global salvage companies, the capabilities, track record and other relevant information to assist in selecting potential service providers. We are then able to submit the relevant document to initiate the tender process.

Wreck Removal Management and Support

Once a contact for removal has been issued, GSC's Salvage Experts are available to oversee the execution of wreck removal, ensuring that the interests of the owner and its P&I Club are protected throughout.

Expert Witness Services

As well as Salvage Experts, GSC provides Expert Witnesses to act in arbitration proceedings. Skilled in the art of providing oral and written evidence that is clear and understandable to all parties present, Expert Witnesses will articulate the complexities and technical issues of each case with opinions based on their background knowledge and practical experience.

Salvor Provision and Onsite Representation

GSC's Salvage Experts are trained to operate as salvage masters, officers, supervisors, engineers and naval architects. We can either assemble a complete team, or augment your existing team to provide a complete project management capability.

General Marine Consultation Services

GSC provides support ranging from ad hoc advice to project-wide consultation, ensuring that all appropriate technical, legal and environmental factors concerning salvage and wreck removal have been addressed to the satisfaction of all parties concerned.

Brief description of events: These Mono Piles were towed from Zeebrugge to the wind farm location and kept afloat by special designed plugs. One of these plugs malfunctioned and the Mono Pile sank. Salvage Company Multraship based in Terneuzen, The Netherlands were contracted to recover the object. A sheerlegs was mobilized to execute the operation successfully.

GSC beeldmerk logoGSC opens an office in Taipei to better serve its clients in Northeast Asia. The office will be headed by Julian Lee, who has been a GSC partner since 2018 and started his career in this field as a commercial and operational senior executive for an internationally operating salvage company in Singapore. He achieved an MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, Phoenix, US and is a native Mandarin speaker. 

In addition to Julian, GSC has employed Neil Lin, as a Salvage Surveyor. He brings a decade of experience with local salvage, wreck removal and offshore experience to the team. For instance, he was involved in the salvage of the MV MORNING SUN, THOR ACE and the SANCHI, to name but a few. Lin is also a native Mandarin speaker.

Camiel is a Master Mariner, who came ashore in 1998 after spending 13 years at sea serving on a variety of ship types including Ocean going tugs, Heavy Lift- & General Cargo vessels. The last 3 years of his career at sea he served as a Master.

Bringing over 25 years of experience in the Shipping industry, Camiel joined GSC end 2010, became a partner in 2011 and is based in the Netherlands.
Camiel has acted in various roles as Project Manager, Salvage Master and as Salvage Consultant. Over the years he was involved in a number high profile salvage- and wreck removal operations such as REPUBLICCA di GENOVA, VINCA GORTHON and the COSTA CONCORDIA.

Willem is since 2011 a Partner in GSC and based in The Netherlands. He started his sea going career on board ocean going salvage tugs and got involved in a number of salvage operations during this period. After his graduation he has been active in the dredging industry and served as Master on hopper dredgers for a period of 8 years.

Willem is a Master Mariner and in addition holds Marine Engineering and Hopper Technologies degrees. Since 2008 he returned back in the salvage industry and meanwhile has been involved in a number of high profile operations such as the SAMHO BROTHER, MSC NAPOLI and COSTA CONCORDIA.

Jacob is one of the founding Partners of GSC and based in Singapore. He started his sea going career on board ocean going salvage tugs and got involved in a number of salvage operations during this period. After his graduation he obtained deep sea experience on ro-ro vessels and full container ships, both in the deck and engine room departments.

Jacob is a Master Mariner and in addition holds a Marine Engineering degree. After his time at sea he joined a well-known international operating salvage firm and was involved, as Salvage Master, Project Director and General Manager, in many high profile salvage and wreck removal operations such as the NEW CARISSA, KURSK and ROKIA DELMAS.
Since 2008 he is a member of the SCR panel and has been appointed in this capacity in a number of cases such as KOTA KADO, TIGER SPRING and RENA

Francis is since 2014 an Associate Member in GSC and based in Singapore. He started his diving career with the Royal Singapore Navy in the early seventies and moved into the salvage industry as a Diver in 1977. From 1983 to 1986, he pursued a career as off-shore Diver but decided to return back in the salvage industry in 1986. In 1988 Francis became Salvage Master and in 2008 he was promoted to Senior Salvage Master. In addition, Francis has been working from time to time as Project Manager for off shore installation projects.

Francis is bringing 35 years of salvage experience and over the years he was involved in a number high profile salvage and wreck removal operations including SEA PRINCE, TWIN STAR and HYUNDAI 105.

Pim has worked until 2009 as CEO for a well known Towage and Salvage Company in South Africa and with more than 30 years of experience in salvage, towage, marine oil pollution and offshore operations.

Pim is a Special Casualty Representative (SCR) and, in a consultancy role, has attended various difficult marine casualties.
